Behold what will be an awesome bathroom sink!!

Over here they don't do normal bathroom cabinets around sinks. According to my extensive internet research even the smallest sink-in-a-cabinet will set you back £300-700 at least. IKEA has a sink set into a set of drawers that costs £200.  Too much.

S was saying it wasn't a big deal, that we could just get some plastic drawers for under the sink or hang up some shelving on the wall, or stick the towels in a cupboard under the eaves.  And eaves storage and shelving has its place, I grant.  But! We are potentially going to be sharing this bathroom with a teenage girl sooner than we think, and I *know* how much hair/primping stuff will be vying for room in the bathroom - drawers and counter-space are a  necessity.

So, I've been stalking gumtree.  And google.  and ebay  And pinterest.

Last Monday I drove out to Dunbar to look at  cabinet, but it wasn't right.  Last Wednesday I found a marble-topped cabinet I thought was going to be perfect.  But after going out and viewing it on Thursday afternoon, I was worried about the plumbing fitting under the sink.

I was pretty stressed last Thursday evening thinking about it because our bathroom will be installed in the loft in just over a week and I still need to figure out how to attach the sink to a cabinet in the first place.

Friday I woke up with a very still, confident, peaceful feeling.  'I am not going to pay £200 plus £50 shipping for cabinet.  I withdrew £70 for the first cabinet.  I'll go check out the charity shops and I won't spend more than that.'

So Friday morning, F and I went to the Teddy Bear's picnic toddler morning at church.  Then, we went out for lunch with G and S - (-£10 in my cabinet budget - don't worry, I felt-rather-than-thought.  You'll still find it.)

Then I went to a furniture warehouse/charity shop called FourSquare.  I've never seen a sideboard there before, I have to say, but I thought it was worth a go.  The first thing I see is this baby.  Along with about 5 other sideboards/dressing tables to choose from!

And they were only asking £45 for it.  And because we had trouble getting keys (finally found them in the end though) the guy knocked another £5 off the price for me.

Considering that most things comparable to this were running for £150+ on gumtree, ebay and the like, I'm quite pleased!  Bathroom sink, here we come!
